Help! - What Can Be Done?

We've done some "brainstorming" to identify some of the ways we may be able to attack this problem. Some may be possible while others may be impossible. They are offered as food for thought. We'll be adding more as we come up with them or receive ideas from others

The Problem: Living in the Southwest, I am faced with the immigration problems more than people in most parts of the country. Even so, I wasn't fully aware of the total impact it was having on our country. I looked at it as more of an inconvenience we have to deal with and not as the urgent and serious issue that it is. I now see the importance of changing our current policies. I'm afraid that most Americans, especially those living in areas that are not as affected by immigration as some states, are oblivious to the real threat rapidly approaching. Therefore, they don't see it as being an issue that requires immediate action. We need to change that illusion that the majority of people have. During my recent research into illegal immigration, I discovered that there are hundreds of groups demanding that the US enforce it's immigration laws and protect it's borders. Each group seems to be fighting independently. Many are asking for donations, but how does the potential donor know if the group is legitimate or where and how the funds will be spent?

1. Form a powerful coalition where all groups share their information and power in order to make all citizens aware of what is happening in this country and the importance of acting NOW. Create a sole coalition that would act in favor of the majority of the citizens of the United States and the individual groups and closely watch the actions of elected officials regarding these matters. This powerful coalition could assign certain tasks to the individual groups. The coalition would demand fair media reporting and confront the proper government channels about our issues. Establish a central fund where all donations are collected and distributed. This fund would be audited by a respected firm and income and spending reported monthly. Getting organized and creating unity is the most powerful thing we can do.

2. Consider filing lawsuits against agencies and lawmakers that are failing to protect the citizens of this country by blatantly ignoring and not enforcing the laws already on the books and for not doing all they can to protect our borders and citizens. Demand that those lawmakers explain why they are ignoring the public outcry for protection and why they are not following the letter of the law. File class action lawsuits against the President, pro-immigration Senators, Governors, Mayors, pro-immigration advocacy groups, ICE, Homeland Security and others for not acting aggressively to protect our citizens and enforce our current laws. File a billion dollar lawsuit against the ACLU for interfering with enforcing our laws and our Constitution and not protecting the "civil liberties" of legal residents. They are choosing to be selective in their battles and they are not acting unilaterally. We should consider filing lawsuits against the groups in favor of open borders and the ACLU whenever there is a violet crime committed by an illegal alien. File a class-action lawsuit against the government in favor of all those that have lost loved ones to illegal immigrants. Locate large law firms that would be willing to represent our interests pro-bono. They would benefit by the tremendous publicity as well as by any settlements.

3. Create a centralized website that would bring all of the individual anti-illegal immigrant websites together under one URL and have that URL splashed across America so all citizens can have easy access to it. It should have thousands of pictures, crime articles, up-to-the-minute news, news archives, biased media reporting, statistics, etc. All of the individual websites could contribute as well as responsible news organizations and citizens. Establish one central fund that citizens and groups can donate to. It should be audited and its income and spending publicized regularly. Once we are strongly organized, we should try to locate a wealthy foundation that will help support our efforts. For example, The Gates Foundation, the Trump Organization, Ross Perot or any other heavily funded groups that try to help charities should be contacted. Charity begins at home. Some of these groups may not want to be identified as donors but may be willing to anonymously contribute in order to save America. Remember, Ross Perot was strongly opposed to NAFTA, and as it turned out, he was right.

4. Confront our media. Combat erroneous reporting, information and speculation with documented facts that are readily available to the public. Point out erroneous reporting and make it known that we will let the public know which media source is reporting false or biased information and what the facts really are. Exposing enough "bad reports" from a media source will eventually make them an "unreliable" news source in the public's eye. For instance, the statement, "A head of lettuce will cost twice as much without immigrant labor" is not giving the true picture. Although that head of lettuce may indeed cost twice as much, healthcare costs, infrastructure costs due to overpopulation, gasoline use, crime, etc. would all be reduced. Another common argument is that illegals are doing jobs Americans don't want to do. We have millions of LEGAL immigrants here that will take those jobs. They are Americans. We should demand that our media cover both sides of the immigration issue equally and fairly and give each side an equal time to explain their side of the issue and have an independent group investigate the facts presented by both sides and publish those results. Create a watchdog group to counter the media's one sided reporting of the illegal immigration issue. These watchdogs would report to us which media sources are not reporting anti-immigration stories and are only reporting biased pro-immigration articles.

5. Buy TV time to present the dilemma that the US is facing today by not securing our borders. Produce a documentary showing the real issues. Call for an uprising of the American people and provide a means for them to easily join. We should make it easy for citizens to reach their elected officials to demand changes and we should demand that those elected officials respond to those demands by explaining publicly why they have not acted in the interest of the citizens of the United States. Create a central means for sending emails, faxes, partitions and phone calls to the proper governmental channels. Anything that would bring our concerns into public scrutiny will help our cause. Forcing the press to cover our side of the peso will help citizens start to understand the dangers we are facing.

6. Organize a large group (100-500) of victims and victims families (these should not be hard to find) to testify in front of Congress in a forum open to the televised press of the tragedies they've had to endure because of the US government's failure to enforce it's border laws. Put pressure on ICE and Homeland Security to do the job they are paid to do. Demand public explanations as to why they are not acting aggressively.

7. Establish a yearly convention where all interested parties and groups can attend and get more information, share and distribute materials, listen to speakers, pool their ideas and resources and work together for our cause. This can help us get organized. Las Vegas may be a great venue since it is close to the southern states, Colorado and other states with huge immigration problems. The convention would also be a good place to organize rallies, marches, demonstrations, etc. to be held throughout the country.

ORGANIZATION IS THE KEY

Confront our Lawmakers with our Demands:

1. Demand that the 700 miles of high tech border fence be funded and built immediately and approve building of the rest of the fencing when the 700 miles get done. It's estimated that the cost of the 700 miles would be about 2.2 billion dollars. The war in Iraq is costing taxpayers $195,000,000 per day. The fence would cost the equivalent of about 11 days in Iraq.

2. Demand increased surveillance by drones, cameras, facial recognition technology, border guards, the National Guard and other means.

3. Demand improved security passes, passports, IDs, etc.

4. Demand that they provide stiff penalties and jail sentences for employers who hire illegals and enforce the laws already on the books.

5. Demand that they create a centralized database to aid identifying legal/illegal aliens if there is not already one.

6. Demand stricter law enforcement and penalties for illegals committing crimes.

7. Demand that they create laws that allow Customs to seize any assets of illegal immigrants before deportation to help pay costs of enforcement.

8. Demand that they negotiate an extradition agreement with Mexico to return violent and career criminals for prosecution so that these criminals realize that just going back to Mexico will not protect them from prosecution.

9. Demand that they employ the practice of rigorously deporting violators.

10. Demand that they stop the practice of illegal immigrants sending money back to Mexico or limit the amount that can be sent.

11. Demand that they put incarcerated illegals to work building the border fences and cleaning up trash left by invaders so that they earn their keep.

12. Demand that the immigration issues be put on the ballot for public vote.

13. Demand that they pass laws banning illegals from benefiting from US services offered to low income legal US citizens.

14. Demand that they deny illegals any and all "immigration rights" they claim they may have such as food stamps, free clinics, etc., etc.. Deny non-emergency medical treatment for illegals and refer them to clinics that are operated by licensed Mexican medical groups that would be established with a joint agreement with Mexico.

15. Demand that they deny "anchor baby rights to citizenship". No other country allows it.

16. Demand that they deny access to driver's licenses and ID cards to illegals. Why give them US documentation when they shouldn't be here in the first place?

17. Demand that they deny guest worker programs and amnesty and that they vigorously enforce the laws currently on our books.

18. If it is determined that it is necessary for some industries to hire illegals, demand that employers wishing to hire these illegals be responsible for housing and controlling the activities of those illegals. They would be there to work and would then get housed and fed by the employer, then returned to Mexico when the job was finished. If they come here to work, they should work and not have access to the benefits of living here until they become a legal citizen. They should be constantly supervised by the employer and not allowed to walk the streets freely. If they need medical attention, they should be treated and if they cannot return to work, they should be returned to where they came from or turned over to Mexican health authorities. The employer would be the employee's sponsor and would be directly responsible for the employee's actions. The public should not have to pay the price for crimes committed by an illegal immigrant brought here to work for that company. These companies may eventually decide that they need to pay better wages and hire legal citizens.

18. Demand that the government set aside funds that are strictly controlled to implement the above issues. The accounting should be publicized on the web monthly so Americans see where the money is going. Individuals handling these funds would be personally responsible for any misuse.
