Communities taking a stand against illegal immigration

Beaufort, S.C. —  A company that knowingly hires illegal immigrants could lose its business license under a county law given final approval Wednesday evening. Beaufort County Council unanimously approved the local law, dubbed the "Lawful Employment Ordinance," 9-0, following a public hearing.

Escondido, CA The Escondido City Council has adopted a resolution opposing illegal immigration, which, the council says, diminishes the "overall quality of life"

Hazleton, Pa., population 31,000, is now in the national spotlight, after the mayor and city council ... Pennsylvania town gets tough on immigration Hazleton cracks down on illegal immigrants

Maricopa County AZ No-nonsense Sheriff Joe  rigorously enforces immigration laws

Palm Bay City Council (Florida) had a Second Reading (final vote) on the Unlawful Business Practices ordinance 2006-80. The ordinance passed the First Reading 4-1. This ordinance was expected to become the national model where cities would be able to locally enforce immigration laws. The Unlawful Business Practices ordinance is a business regulation ordinance requiring licensees to hire only legal employees. The ordinance would prohibit unauthorized workers including minors,
convicted sex offenders, convicted felons and illegal aliens. The 4-1 favorable vote August 3, 2006 changed to a 2-3 loss on August 17, 2006. There can be no doubt the outcome was greatly influenced by the pro illegal immigration special interest groups.
The wide range of overwhelming citizen support continues. The Silent Majority of Florida has been established to collect petitions to establish a special election in order to adopt the Unlawful Business Practice Ordinance. It is our hope to have this ordinance adopted through special elections in Palm Bay and throughout the State of Florida.

Valley Park, MO, Town’s mayor tackles illegal immigration. The town of Valley Park, Mo., doesn't have very many illegal immigrants, and they don't want them, either. The St. Louis County town will continue to enforce an ordinance aimed at keeping illegal immigrants away, after members of the city council failed to override a mayoral veto. For months, Valley Park has been embroiled in a legal battle over sections of a housing code denying occupancy permits to landlords who rent to illegal aliens.  Video

WASHINGTON, N.C. - In what supporters call a move against bilingualism, the Beaufort County Commissioners have ordered the removal of non-English signs and informational material from offices and property under county jurisdiction.
